Prevacid®24HR may be the new frequent heartburn treatment on the shelf, but the medicine has a well-established safety record. Prevacid®24HR is the only OTC Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) for the treatment of frequent heartburn that contains lansoprazole. Lansoprazole has a well-established safety record. For nearly 15 years now, doctors have prescribed Prevacid® (lansoprazole)** to treat acid-related conditions in millions of people safely.
How does it affect digestion?
Prevacid®24HR prevents acid that causes frequent heartburn for a full 24 hours, with one pill a day for 14 days. It works by reducing the release of acid from the "proton pumps" in the stomach, but leaves enough acid to promote normal digestion. Prevacid®24HR has been proven safe and well tolerated in clinical studies.

Q: Does Prevacid®24HR have any side effects?
A: Like all medicines, Prevacid®24HR may cause side effects. The most common side effects experienced are headaches, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

Prevacid®24HR may take 1-4 days for full effect, although some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours.
Prevacid®24HR is indicated for the treatment of frequent heartburn, which occurs 2 or more days a week. Use as directed for 14 days. You may repeat one 14-day course every 4 months or as directed by your doctor. If your heartburn continues or worsens stop use and ask your doctor.
